Abstract: The study examined gender differences in palatal rugae patterns among Bengali individuals from Kolkata and South 24 Parganas. A total of 192 participants (119 females, 73 males) were selected, excluding those with palatal abnormalities or dentures. Palatal impressions were analyzed for rugae length, shape, and orientation, and statistical comparisons were made using ANOVA tests. Significant gender-based variations were observed in rugae distribution and forms, particularly the straight type, which was more prevalent among females, while the average number of rugae remained similar across genders.
